5 major things that differentiate Lamima from other Indonesian Pinisis
For those people that are not familiar with the specification of yachts, it is hard to determine the difference between one to another. Aside from the beautiful look of these lovely pinisis, when booking your holiday, it is important to consider the build of the boat and the service that you will receive during the charter.
Here are the 5 major things that differentiate Lamima from other Indonesian Pinisis;
1. She is the largest wooden Sailing Yacht in the world.

With the overall length of 65.2 meters and 650 gross registered tonnage, she is the titleholder for being the largest and biggest wooden sailing yacht in the world. Imagine what this volume can provide; 7 spacious cabins providing luxury comfort, a spacious saloon furnished with a bar, lounge area, and a huge dining table plus expansive external deck space for al fresco dining and relaxing, a sophisticated spa area, and an upper deck for yoga or other activities. She also offers a greater range and capacity than any other vessels in the region.
2. She is the only Pinisi in Indonesia that holds an International Class Certificate : RINA (Registro Italiana Naval)

Engine room
The yacht was built by Naval Architect Marcelo Pena hand in hand with Dominique Gerardin (the owner) making it the only Pinisi under the RINA certificate. This certificate is an internationally recognized classification that ensures the highest standards of safety and quality of build. This also means that Lamima has a very low carbon footprint. Every year, a RINA representative inspects the boat to make sure that the yacht maintains its high standards.
3. She is the most traditional Pinisi

The built
The traditional pinisis of the 1900’s did not have an engine but huge rigging with massive sails. Lamima is built following this tradition; she has the biggest rigging you can find on the modern Pinisi (1,277 sqm of Sails).

Main mast is 48 meters.
The masts of 48 metres are made from Oregon pine from Canada, we’re assembled in Barcelona and then shipped to Bangkok where a team of yacht experts – Marine result who has built some of the biggest sailing yachts-finalized the entire rigging.

Crew presentation during a charter
“We want you to know that the trip was THE trip of a lifetime, there are no words to describe what we saw, how well we were served by the most extraordinary crew, I am sure you will hear from them as well that the 20 of them with the 11 of us became a family…wow, they were amazing, starting with wonderful Wawan, and all the way to every engineer and tender driver. We have a Lamima chat and we are all in Lamima withdrawal.
All the best, and thank you for bringing us Lamima and introducing us all to such a beautiful part of the world”
This is just one of the many great comments from Lamima’s guests. It takes time to find the best team members for any company and Lamima is no exception. To this day, she has the perfect crew who know how to handle every guest, welcoming them and treating them as a part of the family. The team of 20 crew are well looked after by the Owner and are all in a long term contracts meaning little or no turnover. Among the 20 Indonesian crew, we have 3 females (2 masseuses and 1 stewardess).
Most of the crew hold very high qualifications. One engineer holds a Class 1 certificate and another engineer and the first officer hold a Class 2 certificate. These qualifications are far superior to the legal requirement. All of them speak good English.
