CRUISE ON THE WORLD’S LARGEST WOODEN SAILING YACHT “LAMIMA”
Those seeking new horizons will be delighted to discover the wonder of Lamima, the epitome of luxury from topsail to keel. This vessel has been custom built with the specific intent of providing the ultimate in comfort, elegance, and safety while maintaining the warm ambiance of traditional Indonesian hospitality.
The yacht was designed in 2012 by esteemed yacht designer Marcelo Penna of Barcelona who, while retaining the elegance of the traditional vessels on which Lamima’s lines are based, has unobtrusively incorporated refinements to enhance her intrinsic strength and stability. She offers a massive 400 sqm of the open deck on a total of 900 sqm of usable space. Marcelo has also given her an impressive sail wardrobe designed to catch every breeze of the archipelago, thus creating a first-class sailing vessel with all the opulence of a super-yacht.
The construction of Lamima was entrusted to the skillful traditional boat builders of Ara, Sulawesi. In crafting the vessel, they succeeded in combining the authenticity and charm of the Indonesian two-masted trading ship of yore (the Phinisi) with the latest concepts in yacht design and technology – thus producing an exceptional vessel with a distinguished pedigree.
Lamima is the only world-class charter yacht to be registered under the Indonesian flag (a requisite when sailing with clients in Indonesian waters) thus providing further exclusivity and confirming her mandate to explore at liberty the sapphire waters of the archipelago she calls home.
A MESSAGE FROM THE OWNER

Dominique Gerardin (Yacht Co-owner)
Indonesia is a beautiful cruising ground and Eastern Indonesia particularly is probably one of the few remaining unspoiled areas on our planet.
As a former merchant marine officer than superyacht captain for 20 years, I could see that a real sailing yacht with a traditional hull, an Indonesian crew and the standards of a western yacht would contribute to entice some of the wealthiest customers, who are always looking for authentic destinations and experiences, to discover the Indonesian coastlines.
It took us 3 years to build Lamima and today, the results are beyond expectations. After just one year on the water, we already have repeat clients and the bookings are increasing rapidly. We offer a new concept of yachting where beauty and warmth are always present.
Until now all superyachts were built in Europe or the US and the crew members are mostly westerners. Today, with Lamima, we have put Indonesia on the luxury charter map. The clients enjoy the traditional aspect of the yacht, the kindness, and warmth of the Indonesian crew, as well as all the highest quality of standard in terms of comfort and service you can expect from any superyacht.
Travel is not only about the destination, but it is also about the means. From your first step on Lamima, you will be immersed in the Indonesian culture and instantly feel welcomed by the crew. We focus mainly on remote and pristine areas encouraging authentic local cultures such as Raja Ampat (Eastern Indonesia), Komodo, and Mergui Archipelago (Myanmar). Lamima was built with love and passion. Our message to our guests: “Come and see how beautiful the world is, and together let’s protect it.”
