Lamima’s story began in 2012, with a vision brought to life by renowned yacht designer Marcelo Penna of Barcelona. Inspired by the timeless grace of Indonesia’s traditional phinisi boats, Marcelo integrated modern superyacht technology to enhance strength, stability, and performance. With 900 square meters of usable space — including 400 square meters of open deck — Lamima is a sailing yacht designed to embrace the wind and the wonder of the archipelago.
Her construction was entrusted to the master boatbuilders of Ara, Sulawesi — a coastal village famed for its centuries-old boatbuilding heritage. By combining traditional craftsmanship with contemporary yacht innovation, Lamima became a vessel of true distinction, representing both cultural legacy and technical excellence.
Today, Lamima stands alone as the only luxury charter yacht of her class to sail under the Indonesian flag — a symbol of authenticity and freedom. This unique registration allows her to explore the most remote and pristine waters of the Indonesian archipelago, offering guests an exclusive opportunity to experience these islands in comfort, style, and cultural connection.

As a former merchant marine officer and superyacht captain with over 20 years of experience, I recognized the opportunity to offer something truly unique: a genuine sailing yacht with a traditional Indonesian hull, an exceptional Indonesian crew, and the comfort and standards of a Western superyacht. My vision for Lamima was to create a luxury yacht experience that would appeal to discerning travelers looking for authenticity, cultural immersion, and exploration of Indonesia’s magnificent coastlines.
It took three years of dedication and craftsmanship to bring Lamima to life — and today, she has exceeded all expectations. Ten years later, Lamima has set the benchmark for yachting in Indonesia.
